Unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the new S80 has been given a more distinctive, dynamic design and striking face, while the interior offers enhanced luxury and comfort.
Featuring three new diesel engines, the 2.4D, D5 and the low CO2-emitting DRIVe, the S80 also deliveres lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions.
Exterior
- A lower, longer and wider stance
- Front is more distinctive with a new grille featuring the larger iron mark badge
- Chrome detailing on the air intakes, lower part of the doors and under the tail lamps
Interior
- Leather seats with matching stitching
- Door panels match the same trim
- Super-slim floating centre stack is upgraded with a Silk Metal frame
- Exclusive aluminium instrument dials
- New generation of steering wheel - with Silk Matte metal-effect finish on the four-spoke steering wheel, also found in the gear selector and around the starter button

Twin-turbo five-cylinder 2.4-litre D5 turbodiesel
- 205 horsepower
- 420 Nm of torque over a very wide range of engine revs

The upgraded Euro 4-compliant 2.4-litre diesel
- 175 horsepower

The Volvo S80 DRIVe
- 1.6-litre diesel engine and manual gearbox
- Specially tailored engine software and different ratios in third, fourth and fifth gears
- CO2 emissions to 129 g/km
- 57.6mpg respectively (preliminary figures)
The driving dynamics and ride of the new Volvo S80 have been updated and improved by the introduction of two new chassis - the Lowered Dynamic Chassis and the Comfort Chassis.
Lowered Dynamic Chassis
- Standard on the SE and SE Lux models
- Enhanced sporting driving characteristics and more responsive handling
- The car has been lowered by 20 millimetres at the front and 15 millimetres at the rear resulting in a lower centre of gravity
- Shortened coil springs and higher spring rates
- Shock absorbers have been given greater damping ability on both compression and extension strokes
- All the mountings on the sub-frame have harder bushings
- Anti-roll bars have also been strengthened to give increased side stability in corners
- Automatic levelling for greater stability
Comfort Chassis
- Comfort Chassis as a no cost option (Comfort Chassis only on the Executive trim level)
- Offers a compliant and un-interrupted smooth ride
- Uncompromisingly comfort-orientated ride with softer springs and more subtle damping
